Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and Tag and Tap. By creating an account or activating a tag, you accept them.
The most important thing on this page. A Tag and Tap tag is not a GPS tracker. It has no battery, no signal and no location of its own. It does nothing at all until a person finds your pet or your bag and holds a phone against the tag.
It improves the chance of a safe return. It cannot promise one, and it is not a substitute for a microchip, a collar with your number on it, or keeping your pet safe.
1. What the service is
Tag and Tap lets you create a profile, link it to an NFC tag, and control which details on that profile are shown to anyone who scans it. We host the profile page, deliver alerts when a tag is scanned, and keep a scan history for you.
The service includes the mobile app, the tags we sell, and the public profile pages. Tags you buy elsewhere can also be registered, provided they are compatible.
2. Your account
- You must be 13 or older, or the age of digital consent where you live, whichever is higher.
- Give accurate details. A wrong phone number makes the tag useless.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to it.
3. What you put on a profile
You keep ownership of everything you upload. You give us permission to store it and to display the parts you have marked public on your tag's page — that is the entire purpose of the service, and nothing more.
You must not upload anything unlawful, anything designed to mislead or harm, or anyone else's personal details without their permission. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you publish and for the consequences of publishing it.
We may remove content or suspend a tag that breaks these terms or is reported as abusive.
4. Tags
- Each tag has a unique code and a unique web address. Activating a tag links it to your account.
- A tag can belong to one account at a time. If you sell or give one away, remove it from your account first — that changes its web address so your old profile is no longer reachable.
- If you buy a used tag that is still on someone else's account, contact support.
- Tags are physical objects and can be lost, damaged or worn out. We do not guarantee that a tag will survive any particular treatment.
5. Privacy and the people who scan your tag
How we handle data is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
You decide what is public. Publishing a phone number on a tag means anyone who scans it can see it. Please think about that before switching a field on, particularly a home address or medical detail. We provide the controls; the choice is yours.
6. Availability
We work to keep the service running continuously, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Maintenance, outages at our hosting provider, network problems and faults on the scanning person's phone are all outside our control.
7. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to access another user's account or profile, probe or attack the service, scrape profile pages, use automated tools to guess tag codes, or resell access to the service.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that: we are not liable for the loss of a pet or an item, for a failure to recover one, for a scan alert that does not arrive or arrives late, for a finder choosing not to make contact, or for indirect or consequential loss. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous twelve months.
You are a consumer if you use the service outside your business, and nothing here affects your statutory rights.
9. Ending the agreement
You may delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account. Everything is removed immediately and your tags return to unregistered stock.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, with notice where reasonably possible.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your own country.
